However, while my new job is fab and all, I have the most cringeworthy story to tell you about my first day.
Okay, so all was going well, and I got on the train at about 7.30 pm, which would have given me about 45 extra minutes after arriving at Martin Place station for safety.
I was sitting on the train, feeling really nervous and tummy-fluttery, when just before Redfern, the tummy-fluttering turned into something a bit different... I started feeling really dizzy and my vision started clouding and I felt like I was going to faint (which has happened to me before because of nervousness).
I started to stand up so that I could get off at Redfern and sit down to calm down. I stepped out into aisle and BLUERGH!
So I was trying to apologise to this lady, while almost blacking out, and finally the train pulled into Redfern. I made my escape, and wandered around the station with orange puke (I'd had orange juice for brekky, yummo) on my shirt and on my chin, trying to find the toilets. I found them, but they had no mirrors so I had no idea whether I'd cleaned up all of the stuff on me.
While I was cleaning up, a homeless lady came up to me and chatted to me, and while I was keeping my eye on handbag, she actually offered me some coins. I thanked her, but declined.
At about 8.40 am, I went back down to my platform to take the train to Martin Place, when an announcement came on saying that the train was delayed, surprise surprise.
I got into Martin Place station at 9.10 am, and was utterly shitting myself because I had no phone numbers to call, saying I was late. I ran to the tickets gates and discovered that I couldn't find my ticket!!! I tried to go through the gate that they leave open, but a transit officer asked me for my ticket. I told him I couldn't find it, and he said he'd have to give me a fine if I had no ticket to show him. I started crying and told him it was my first day at work and that I was so nervous and I'd bought a ticket at Jannali, blah blah blah. The poor guy didn't know what to do. Eventually, I found my ticket and he let me go.
I ran all the way to my building and got there at about 9.20 am (I had to be up on Level 60, so the elevator took bloody ages...) Luckily, the lady I was meeting remembered me from when I did work experience there, and she was really nice to me and asked if I was okay, and didn't mind that I was late cos she'd just got there herself.
So there you go, probably the worst morning of my life. Feel free to have a laugh at my expense.
